Kering Opens New Japan Headquarters In Omotesando, Tokyo

Global luxury group Kering has recently announced the opening of its new headquarters located in Omotesando, Tokyo, Japan.

The building was initially designed in 2004 by Pritzker winning Japanese architect Toyo Ito, and was previously the Japanese headquarters of an Italian luxury brand. It was purchased in 2019 by Kering, through the help of a real estate ally.

The name Kering, which is pronounced ‘caring’, is a reflection of how the Group sees its relationship with its stakeholders and the environment. In the dialect from France’s Brittany region, where the Group has its historical roots, ‘ker’ means ‘home’ or ‘a place to live’. The new headquarters in Japan represents the Group’s vision and philosophy.

The building adds a touch of nature in its design concept, creating a pleasant homely atmosphere. Four floors are devoted to office space, with a dedicated space on the 6th floor, where Kering and its Houses will be able to host a range of events, such as Women In Motion talks and Sustainability events.

On the seventh floor is a beautiful rooftop terrace space which is surrounded by nature and having egg-shaped chairs. It provides an amazing view of Omotesando.

The space is home to seasonal plants and flowers that are popular in both Japan and France, such as the lavenders that can also be seen in the beautiful gardens of Kering’s Paris headquarters in the former Laennec Hospital, built in the 17th century.
