One of the highlights of 2021 in the realm of luxurious hotels is the opening of Château de Versailles, Le Grand Contrôle. As the 6th property of French hotels Airelles, Château de Versailles, Le Grand Contrôle presents everything a 5-starhotel has to offer and more. The name speaks for itself as it is the first hotel in history to open in the Château de Versailles. You will get to enjoy an unequaled view of the notorious palace, the Orangery and the Pièce d’Eau des Suisses. That’s nothing compared to the exclusive experience that only the guests will benefit from – dive in the everyday life of King Louis XIV and his wife Marie Antoinette. Château de Versailles, Le Grand Contrôle gives you access to a private tour of the Trianon and the Château, a spa treatment true to the queen’s self-care routine and after-hours access to the Hall of Mirrors. Guests will not only get a peek inside the mysterious royal life, but also will be treated like royalty themselves in every single service. Le Grand Contrôlespreads across three buildings (Le Grand Contrôle, Le Petit Contrôle and the Pavillon des premières cent marches) executed by Jules Hardouin-Mansart, the King’s preferred architect, in 1681. Designer Christophe Tollemer was commissioned by Airelles to redesign the interiors. He used the 1788 Petit Trianon aesthetic, and he carefully curated pieces from Versailles archives and reused it to decorate this project. The hotel hired local artisans to complete the restoration of the floors, ceilings, textiles and wood. The brief wasclear: recreate the 18th century fantasy in every single detail. Namely, French socialites and the Royal family’s close circle were depicted in wall hangings by Pierre Frey.
