French fashion house Louis Vuitton is set to venture into hospitality, with the announcement of the opening of its first-ever restaurant at Louis Vuitton’s new Osaka flagship.
Le Café V will be located on the top floor of Vuitton’s new four-level Osaka maison, and will include a menu designed by popular Japanese chef Yosuke Suga, who was once the protégé of the 32-Michelin star-earner Joël Robuchon.
There is also a cocktail bar and outdoor terrace, making it an ideal post-shopping spree spot come Spring. Next to the bar will be Sugalabo V, which will serve dinner to guests utilizing an open kitchen mirroring the Tokyo branch of Sugalabo, which currently ranks as the 47th best restaurant in the world. It is advised to make a reservation well in advance, as Sugalabo will only allow a few diners per night.
The building was designed by Jun Aoki, whose portfolio also includes the Louis Vuitton stores in New York City and in Hong Kong. Artist and designer Tokujin Yoshioka created the visuals for the restaurant’s charger plates, which will pay homage to that unmistakable LV monogram.
The interiors will have nautical detailing in a nod to the building’s architecture. Designed by Jun Aoki, it is meant to evoke a ship floating on water—the facade itself is reminiscent of billowing sails.
Le Café V is scheduled to open February 15, following the opening of Louis Vuitton's new Osaka boutique on February 1. The development was confirmed by Michael Burke, chairperson and chief executive officer of Vuitton. He also hinted at the prospect of adding more restaurants and hotels to the brand.
