Architecture firm BIG is currently working on a design project for pharmaceutical giants Pfizer, a massive 314-metre-high skyscraper in New York. It is believed that on completion in 2022, the development will become the headquarters of coronavirus vaccine maker Pfizer.
Pfizer will occupy 14 floors of the building for its head offices, with law firm Debevoise & Plimpton and asset management firm AllianceBernstein also have offices in the building.
Called The Spiral, the development which recently reached its full height of 314-metres will feature landscaped terraces in a stepped design around its exterior, as shown in new visuals released by BIG to coincide with the building reaching its full height.
The 65-storey, 314-metres high skyscraper now ranks as the 13th tallest building in New York, just behind the Chrysler Building. It occupies an entire city block in Manhattan's Hudson Yard neighborhood, where the High Line elevated park meets Bella Abzug Park.
The Spiral was designed in a way that allows each floor access to landscaped outdoor spaces. Its design steps back as it ascends, in a nod to the design of existing towers in the city. A variety of office types is also designed in the building, including individual suites, with tenants able to gain access to amenities such as a corporate lounge, meeting spaces and fine dining venues.
"The Spiral represents the ideal collaborative workspace, now more important than ever, combining sustainable design with an elevated hospitality experience," said Rob Speyer, President and CEO of Tishman Speyer.
