The chandelier that brings people together
Dis/Connect is a chandelier conceived by Eric Forman, Ben Luzzatto and Dan Gross that stops wireless signals. If you are within the five-foot(1.5-metre) radius under the lighting, you won’t be able to receive calls or connect to your WiFi.

The Brooklynn-based artists had one goal in mind: to get people off their cellphones, and create a space where they can be fully present without touching their screens between every argument. Forman talks about the need to create a physical space that provides quiet, digital quiet.
How does it work? Dis/Connect radiates intense radio signals that blocks any other frequency -like WiFi and calls- in a given space. The antennae that capture the signals dangle from the lighting like a traditional chandelier.
The chandelier is pretty modern and gives off a slight sci-fi vibe. A universal black, white and bronze palette that melts into any room and any interior design.
At the time being, Dis/Connect can’t retail as house furniture since radio jamming is illegal in the United Kingdom and the United States. However, this art piece ought to open a conversation with the public about the time we spend on our phones, and consequently the time we spend less together. Forman has a petition that is “ready to file with the US Federal Communications Commission”.
