The Shape Of Things
The Covid-19 pandemic has brought about many changes in the way we live. Moving forward, many design models will need to be adjusted. One key area where change is expected is how our environment is built.

To that effect, Downtown Design’s multi-media exhibition, ‘The Shape of Things to Come’ has recently highlighted new design adjustments that meet the changing needs of the environment and is ideal for living in a post-Covid-19 world. The regional design industry’s response also includes the dynamic design concerns of our world.
This exhibition will feature the latest industry designs from architects and interior designers based in the Middle East, as they bring to life glimpses of how we will live, work, and interact after the pandemic.
It is expected that the exhibition will be an exciting one as the line-up of designs to be featured is impressive. Projects such as a house designed for isolation, re-imagined futuristic malls, and worship places will be featured. Tech is not left out, as an exploration into how it can propel design meaningfully and address the scope of culture and locality in providing forward-looking solutions is planned.
The event is set to take place in building 4, Dubai Design District (d3) during Dubai Design week 2020, and will be complemented with digital exclusives on Downtown Design’s Instagram channel.
Participating studios were shortlisted from an open call for the exhibition. They will demonstrate the breadth and expertise of the region’s design talent, showcasing how prepared they are for the future.
