The black and white mosaic chequerboard floor may be the centerpiece: the monochromatic colors (white, black and gold) are still a big part of the brand’s aesthetic as the architect mixed different materials like steel, concrete, and high-shine metal. You will also find a glass staircase and mirrored ceilings, which definitely expands the boundaries of the 857 square meters shopping space. Not to forget the intriguing accessories like a rocky plinth used to display shoes. Curtains and panels are added to certain areas so they can be turned to private rooms. The ground floor is dedicated to Burberry’s archive and historical pieces – like the signature gabardine trench coat, which is hung from luxurious metal frames.
This location itself holds ahistorical value: Thomas Burberry founded his first ever shop in SW1 area. 130years later, it remains to this day the house’s headquarters. In the next year, you can expect Paris, Shanghai and London’s Bond Street to hold De Cotiis touch.
